DEHYDRATION? CHIA SEEDS!
Anthropologist Gina Bria discovered a major solution to dehydration while researching desert dwellers. Bria found that indigenous tribes in Mexico have used chia seeds to gain energy and strength for thousands of years. It is not a coincidence that ‘chia’ means ‘strength’ in the Mayan language!
The Tarahumara (Raramuri) tribe in Mexico is one of the largest indigenous tribes of North America. They are known to be excellent long-distance runners. The tribe attributes their epic marathon running abilities to the consumption of chia seeds.
The Mayans consumed chia seeds as an energy giving food. Research by Professor Dr. Gerald Pollack offers an explanation for the energizing effect of chia seeds. Pollack: “When chia seeds dissolve in water, they get ‘slimy’. That slimy quality is structured EZ water. Hydration really means increasing EZ water in the cells—and with that, more negative charge and energy to the body. That is how chia seeds provide ‘strength’.” See the main story about the relationship between negative charge in the cells and energy in the body.
Bria did her first experiment in the nursing home of her mother. Her mother was suffering from dehydration as did many other people in the nursing home. Bria convinced the staff to start serving the elderly water with chia seeds dissolved in it. When she came back a few weeks later, the people in the nursing home looked and felt much better.
Since then, Bria has started the Hydration Foundation to spread information about natural hydration strategies based on structured water.
